Responsibilities

  • Create, book and track dray (ocean container) moves from origin to destination
  • Schedule and manage delivery appointments based on availability, and container arrival.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers analyzing more effective rates.
  • Ensure that billing of freight charges is effectively carried out.
  • Facilitate audit of billing and payment of freight charges.
  • Keep an open line of communication with the customer to advise of any issues.
  • Maintain exceptional relationships with all carriers and partner with the transportation team to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Update and maintain rate files and supply rates to management as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as requested, directed or assigned.

 Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Two or Four year college degree is a plus. High School diploma is required.
  • Candidates for this role should possess a personal style that reflects enthusiasm, high energy, an excellent work ethic, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to quickly process information and make decisions. An ability to translate and enter data correctly with demonstrated attention to detail is essential.
  • Candidates must possess 3+ years of transportation, traffic management, and/or dispatch related work experience. Some exposure to other supply chain activities would be a plus.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a working knowledge with a TMS (Mercury Gate) or other similar system.
  • Demonstrates ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Shows a strong customer orientation and is able to maintain exceptional relationships with carriers, customers and internal team members.
  • Possesses intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly self-motivated, efficient and productive

  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift and/or move office equipment and files ranging anywhere from 5 – 15 lbs,
  • Must be physically able to open filing cabinets and bend, stand, balance, stoop or twist as necessary.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen and hear on the phone for long periods of time.
  • Vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
